ARRIVING BY CAR

If you come along the central route (via Madrid) you should take the N-IV to Sevilla and then the motorway (A-4) to Cádiz. Just after Jerez de la Frontera, turn off towards the N-340 and Algeciras. Vejer is just off the N-340, almost equidistant between Cádiz and Algeciras.

If you come along the Mediterranean Coastal route ( via Barcelona and Valencia and Málaga) follow the N-340 ( the Autopista del Mediterráneo) until you reach Vejer.

We recommend you park your car at the entrance to the town on La Corredera or use the public parking and walk into the old town. Vejer is an historical old town with several streets only open to residents.

ARRIVING BY BUS:

Vejer has two bus stops, one is La Barca de Vejer which is on the N-340 from Malaga to Cadiz. It is 1.5 km from the town of Vejer, you can take a taxi from here to the town which costs approximately 6€. The other bus stop is in town, next to the Tourist office and about a 5 minute walk to the old town.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN:

The nearest train stations are at San Fernando (45km) and Cádiz (50km) and Algeciras (70km). Stations are connected to the international rail network maintained by Renfe

Jerez de la Frontera

Approx 65 km from Vejer  :  Jerez Airport

Jerez Airport to Vejer by bus:

You will first need to travel to the central bus station in Jerez, you can take a bus with Consorcio Transportes Bahi de Cadiz or by taxi (approx 15€), the journey takes around 20 minutes.

From Jerez central bus station you can catch a direct bus to the town of Vejer (only a few per day) or take a bus to La Barca de Vejer (run more frequently) from here catch a taxi up to town (five minutes drive, around 6€). The journey from Jerez to Vejer by bus takes approximately 1.5hrs and costs approx 7€.

Gibraltar

Approx: 95kms from Vejer  :  Gibraltar Airport 

La Linea to Vejer:

Walk across the border to La Linea, approximately a 5 minute walk . If you wish to hire a car we recommend you do so at La Linea and not at Gibraltar due to costs and traffic. From the bus station of La Linea you can catch a bus to La Barca de Vejer and from here catch a taxi up to town (five minutes drive, around 6€).

Sevilla

Approx 130kms from Vejer  :  Sevilla Airport 

Sevilla Airport to Vejer

You will first need to travel to the central bus station of Sevilla, el Prado de San Sebastian. You can take a bus for approximately 3.30€ or by taxi for approximately 20€, the journey takes around 30 minutes and depends on traffic

From El Prado de San Sebastian you can catch a direct bus to the town of Vejer (only a few per day) or take a bus to La Barca de Vejer (run more frequently) from here take a taxi up to town (five minutes drive, around 6€). The journey from Sevilla to Vejer by bus takes approximately 2.5hrs and costs approx 15€.

Málaga

Approx.: 190kms from Vejer  :  Málaga Airport 

Málaga to Bus connection

A taxi from the airport to the bus station in Málaga takes about 20 minutes. It costs approximately 15 euros (Time and price both depend on the traffic) You can also take a bus, which costs 1.10 euros.

Málaga Airport to Vejer

Take the Express Airport (Line 75) bus from the airport to Malaga bus station. There is a half hourly bus service from 06.15 to 23.30 to the Malaga bus station from the airport, or you can catch a taxi to the bus station which will cost approximately 12€.

Once in the bus station, there are buses direct to La Barca de Vejer (only a few per day) or you can catch a bus to Algeciras (running more frequently) and change for a direct bus to La Barca de Vejer. The journey by bus takes approximately 4-5 hours and costs around 17€. You will need to catch a taxi up to town (five minutes drive, around 6€).
